About Blog

Instead of bombarding our friends & family with mounds of pictures every single day I've created this blog.

You can access it anytime of day or night, & when you get bored reading my commentary, you can always look at the pictures & go about your day.

You can expect at least a post a day most every day, including pictures, so refresh often! Also, be sure to sign the guestbook (located here) to let us know you've visited.

OMG It's Monday

In conjunction with the Friday (TGIFriday) playgroups held at the LunaLuna center, there are occasional OMG It's Monday and Almost TGIFriday playgroups, which seem to coincide with Fridays where playgroup was not held (because of a holiday, etc). We joined the group again today for some fun. The boys played with playdoh from England and had a blast on a Little Tikes see-saw toy.

Andrew is such a clown, he was making the other boys laugh by swishing his head back and forth then tumbling off of the see-saw and rolling as if it were accidental. The kids loved it, and Andrew thrived on making them laugh.

After playgroup we had lunch and some playtime at one of the mom's apartments. It was so nice to sit down to some female conversation while the boys played; it was almost like being at home! Kat was so incredibly generous and loaned me several paperback books to read, along with some toys for Andrew to play with. I can't wait to dive into the books, and Andrew has already begun with the toys in the hotel room!

After three weeks of hauling Andrew all over Tokyo (his little legs haven't gotten used to all the walking we're doing) we decided to rent or buy a stroller. Considering the strollers I checked out at Toys R Us are +/- 20000Yen, I started searching for a used stroller to rent or buy. (Worst case, we can rent from a rental company for 3500Yen per week.) I posted on a couple of Tokyo with Kids message boards, and received an email from one of the moms who runs the TGIFridy playgroup. Ushka was so kind to offer us her backup stroller for use while we are here. You can see Andrew below, so happy to be off his feet! And I'm so happy to have something to carry my bags again! Next time I'll know better than to leave home without our stroller. I had thought that since we use our stroller so little at home I could get by without it here. I was wrong!

The lady in the grey dress next to the elevators at the Odakyu store is the elevator operator. Her job (from what I can see, anyway), along with several other identically dressed ladies, is to press the buttons and and stop on each floor to invite passengers in. I wish I could understand what she is saying, but I think she is announcing what is sold on each floor before we stop there.

I bought Andrew a portable miniature Thomas train track from the Odakyu department store in Shinjuku to go with his new miniature Percy and Toby engines. The salesperson wrapped it up before placing it in the bag. Wow, the service!

Every day when we arrive back at the hotel room, Andrew's stuffed animals are in different positions around the room (depending on the cleaning person for the day). Today was a young gentleman (early 20s) and he had arranged the animals on the bed on the pillow. Many times the animals are stacked in a chair and other times they may be divided up between the two beds.
