Spam on a Cell Phone???
The cell phones here in Japan amaze me. My borrowed cell phone has a 1.3 megapixel camera on it and a huge screen. The photo quality is amazing for a cell phone, though lower than many that are sold here in Japan.
The phone has a built in bar code reader for scanning compatible barcodes (I've seen many on advertisements and you scan the barcode with your cell phone and it searches and finds further information on the company in the ad). Not sure what else the barcode scanner can be used for, but I'm sure it is super useful. *grin*
Beginning on Monday, late morning, my cell phone began beeping at me in a weird way . Of course I have no clue what all the phone does, and can barely manage to check missed calls, so I ignored the beeps. Finally, after six or seven times, I figured I should check. It said I had many messages. So I clicked on the select button and went to my inbox. All of the messages were in Japanese so I ignored them and planned to ask Taka about them when he got home.
The phone beeped over and over again all afternoon and evening. Taka looked at them and mentioned that it was probably spam. Spam? On my cell phone? How the heck did my cell phone number get into a spambot?
Since Monday, I've received over 175 messages and they are still coming. I took a picture this morning when there were 132. Sheesh. Make it stop!!!
